Start With Joy
I recently came across this quote:
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
-T.S. Eliot
It smacked me in the face this morning.
When I got into this space of leadership development and peak performance, I started a company called Success Through Play.
It was based on an idea—a theory.
I believed there was something there—within play—that could open up a world of possibilities for human potential.
As I sit here now, I realize I just didn’t fully understand it at the time.
I needed to explore.
I’ll spare you the details—other than saying, for me, sport is a teacher.
Here’s an equation—or a proof, as my much smarter wife tells me—I encourage you to explore…

in your life:
Start with Joy.
Joy leads to consistency.
Consistency leads to skill acquisition and fitness.
And through skill acquisition and fitness—and I’m not just talking about the athletic kind—success follows.
I guess it looks a little something like this:
Joy —> Consistency —> Skill Acquisition + Fitness ∴ Success
